The queen stage of this year's Critérium du Dauphiné was conquered by Thibaut Pinot of team FDJ. His compatriot Romain Bardet (ALM) arrived just behind him.

The mountainous stage had three first category climbs and one Hors categorié (HC) challenge over 141 kilometers between La Rochette y Méribel. The front riders arrived to the finish line 1:04 minutes ahead of Daniel Martin (EQS) and Chris Froome (SKY).

Team Sky again displayed its qualities keeping Froome supported almost until the end. Sergio Henao and Mikel Landa took him to the last kilometer, allowing the defending Tour de France champion to keep the leader's jersey.

Spaniard Alberto Contador (TNK) was dropped close to the finish, losing some more seconds and falling to fifth place in the General Classification as Martin jumped to fourth position.
