Tour de Pologne: Stage 6 cancelled, Wellens likely winner

The Queen stage of the Tour de Pologne 2016 has been cancelled due to extreme weather conditions.

A few hours before the scheduled start time the decision to shorten it was taken by the organization and the number of laps was reduced as the weather worsened.

With the stage cancelled and an Individual Time Trial to go, Belgian Tim Wellens of Lotto-Soudal is the likely winner of the 73rd edition of the Tour de Pologne.

The day's stage was supposed to be 194 kilometers long bewteen Bukovina Resort and Bukowina Tatrzanska but due to bad weather conditions and low temperatures it was decided to shorten it to 72 kilometers. This happened after 86 riders abandoned during a very difficult fifth stage under heavy rain.

After one lap the visibility and the rain only got worse so the race decided to cancel the stage for the safety of the riders.

General clasification

1- Tim Wellens (LTS)
2- Davide Formolo (CDT)
3- Tiesj Benoot (LTS)
4- Fabio Felline (TFS)
