Lotto Soudal's Jelle Wallays wins 50th GP Cerami

Belgian Jelle Wallays of Lotto-Soudal has won the 2016 edition of the Grand Prix Cerami. Compatriot Jerome Bagnies finished second.

The Grand Prix Pino Cerami, as it is officially called, consisted of a 210km course from Saint-Ghislain to Frameries in the south of Belgium, not far from the French border.

The race featured stars such as Tom Boonen and Nicki Terpstra (both Etixx-QuickStep but it was Lotto's Wallays to cross the finish line solo with a seven-seconds advantage over Jerome Baugnies of Wanty - Groupe Gobert.

Christopher Latham of Team Wiggins won the sprint for third place ahead of Wout van Aert of Crelan - Vastgoedservice.

By winning the 50th edition of the Belgian Category 1.1 race, Wallays succeeds his compatriot Philippe Gilbert who won the 2015 edition for BMC.
