Danish rider Michael Valgren has won the 2016 Post Danmark Rundt. The final stage victory went to German rider Phil Bauhaus.
The fifth and final stage of the Scandinavian race led the peloton from Karrebaeksminde to the city of Frederiksberg in the east of Denmark.
Despite the efforts of Stolting Service Group rider Rasmus Guldhammer Pedersen, who spent some time on his own ahead of the peloton, a bunch sprint decided who would take home the last stage trophy.
The LottoNL-Jumbo train prepared the sprint for its leader Moreno Hofland but the Dutchman was surpassed by Bora-Argon 18 rider Phil Bauhaus at the very last moment. Daniele Bennati finished third.
Race leader Michael Valgren Andersen of Tinkoff, who won the queen stage on Friday, finished fifth and as such successfully defended his advantage to win the 2.HC race for the second time after having done so in 2014.
