Astana Pro Team has won the Team Time Trial of the Vuelta a Burgos. Its rider Dmitriy Gruzdev takes the lead in the overall classification.
The relatively short 10.72km route allowed for high speeds and a close battle for the top spots.
At the finish, Astana had used 13'10" to complete the course. This made the Kazakh outfit a modest two seconds faster than Movistar Team and three seconds faster than Etixx-QuickStep. The entire top ten finished within 14 seconds from the winners.
Team Sky, the formation of race leader Danny van Poppel, came in fourth at six seconds from Astana. As such, the Dutchman drops out of the top ten with four Astana riders now topping the standings.
The Vuelta a Burgos continues on Thursday with a 198km stage from Sedano to Villarcayo.
