British rider Geraint Thomas still had one objective left in the Olympic Games of Rio 2016 and it was to be able to ride in the Time Trial. This Tuesday morning he received the confirmation of his spot in the event.

Great Britain only had one spot for the Olympic time trial and it was already taken by Chris Froome. Despite that, Thomas was hoping that due to the amount of withdrawals for this event he would be given the chance to be there as well.

"I can now announce that I'm really thrilled to get a last minute call up to represent Team GB in the time trial race tomorrow. I would like to wish all those who withdrew through injury a quick recovery," said the rider on his Facebook page.

Although Thomas also suffered a fall during the Road Race, he is ready to represent his country next Wednesday. "I lost quite a bit of skin in my crash and my hip took a good whack but other than that my legs are feeling good and I can’t wait to race again tomorrow. Thanks for all your messages and kind words – feel very honoured to be representing Team GB again!" Thomas added.

The rider already had his time trial bike and gear with him because he was set to replace Froome in case the latter couldn't participate.
