Polish Rafal Majka is set to join Bora-hansgrohe at the start of the 2017 season with a contract of two years. The rider will be joined by his fellow countryman Pawel Poljanski.
Majka, currently riding for Tinkoff, will join the team to play an important role in the Grand Tours, particularly in the Giro d'Italia and the Tour de France, where he won the King of the Mountains jersey twice.
Team Manager Ralph Denk emphasizes the importance of having a rider like Majka on the team. "I always said that we also need to strengthen our roster for the Grand Tours. With Rafal Majka we signed a rider who is able to finish a Grand Tour in the top 5.
"As an add-on our young, German speaking talents, like Buchmann, Herklotz, Konrad or Mühlberger will take advantage, learn from his experience and improve their performance in order to be able to finish a Grand Tour in the top ten in the future."
The highlights of Majka's career include two top-ten spots in the Giro d'Italia, three stage victories in the Tour de France, a third position in the overall classification of the Vuelta a España and a bronze medal at the Rio 2016 Olympic Road Race.
Poljanski also makes the move from Tinkoff and his palmares includes a ninth position in the overall classification of the Tour de Austria and the Combativity award in stage 13 of the 2015 Vuelta a España.
