Dutch cyclist Wout Poels of Team Sky has won the sixth stage of the Tour of Britain. Stephen Cummings, who finished eighth, moves into first place in the overall standings.

Poels came in first in what was the first true summit finish in this Tour of Britain, at the end of a stage from Sidmouth to Haytor in Dartmoor with a length of 149 kilometers.

The Team Sky leader crossed the line seven seconds ahead of Rohan Dennis of BMC Racing Team and eight seconds ahead of compatriot Tom Dumoulin of Giant-Alpecin.

The top five was completed by Dylan van Baarle and Xandro Meurisse.

Belgian Julien Vermote of Etixx-Quick Step began the day in first place but finished almost two minutes behind the stage winner and saw his leader's jersey switch to Cummings who had previously been in second place.

In the battle for the overall victory, Cummings (Dimension Data) now has a 49-second lead over Dumoulin. Dennis follows at 51 seconds while Vermote drops down to 11th place.

Although there are only two days left in the Tour of Britain, the riders still face three stages as Saturday offers a double-header with a time trial in the morning followed by a regular stage in the afternoon.
