Spanish rider Carlos Barbero is moving to Movistar Team. The cyclist signed a contract for the 2017 and 2018 seasons and becomes the fourth rider to join the squad ahead of the new year.
Even though Barbero is considered a sprinter, some of his most important achievements came with uphill finishes as was the case in the Philadelphia International Championship, the Circuito de Getxo and the Vuelta a Burgos, all in 2015.
That year has been one of the most successful seasons in the career of the Burgos-born rider. In addition to the previously mentioned races, he also finished second in the National Road Race Championships of Spain, won one stage in the Vuelta a la Comunidad de Madrid and finished fourth in the Vuelta a la Rioja.
Barbero became a professional in 2012 with team Euskadi and in 2015 moved to another Spanish squad, Caja Rural-Seguros RGA, where he spent the last two years. Now the opportunity arrived to be part of a WorldTour team for the next two seasons.
