Matej Mohoric wins in Tour of Hainan, Lutsenko takes lead

Matej Mohoric of Lampre-Merida has won the queen stage of the Tour of Hainan. The leader's jersey moves from Max Walscheid to Alexey Lutsenko.

The stage led the riders from Changjiang to Wuzhishan with a total distance of 197 kilometers.

Mohoric, his Polish teammate Przemyslaw Niemiec and Astana's Lutsenko attacked on a first-category climb at 12 kilometers from the finish and managed to stay ahead of the chasers until the finish where Mohoric sprinted to victory ahead of Niemiec.

The win is Mohoric's first as a professional. The Slovenian made his debut at Cannondale in 2014 and joined his current team at the start of this season.

As a result, Team Giant-Alpecin's Max Walscheid loses his leader's jersey despite having won all of the last three stages. Lutsenko moves to the top of the classification with a three-second advantage over Mohoric. Niemiec follows at another four seconds.
