RUBEN FERNANDEZ ANDUJAR
MOVISTAR TEAM

Spaniard Ruben Fernandez has renewed his contract with Movistar Team. The young rider will remain with his home country's team for at least three more seasons.

Fernandez has been one of the most surprising riders of the team in the 2016 season, showing his abilities as a climber and wearing the leader's jersey in the Vuelta a España at the age of 25.

During his second season at Movistar, the Spanish rider finished in sixth position in two WorldTour races: The Tour Down Under and the Tour of Poland. These results earned important points for the team to rank in first position in the final WorldTour team classification.

Fernandez also demonstrated his skill in the Vuelta a España by finishing second in the Mirador de Ezaro stage and wearing the red jersey during the third stage. He was considered as one of Nairo Quintana's strongest helpers as the Colombian took the overall victory.

Movistar Team has 27 signed riders ahead of the 2017 season, which for them will start on January 15 with the Tour Down Under in Australia.
