As the future for Chinese team TJ Sport remains uncertain, Team Dimension Data for Qhubeka confirms to CyclingPub that Louis Meintjes would be welcomed with open arms.
With media reports linking the South African rider to his home country's WorldTour team after the UCI announced that TJ Sport's application for a WorldTeam status remained under review, CyclingPub asked 'Africa's Team' for a reaction.
The team responded with a quote from Team Principal Douglas Ryder who left little space for doubt. "As a team we are always interested in the best South African and African talent so if there is an opportunity to bring Louis back into the team then we will welcome him with open arms."
Meintjes, 24, spent the first three years of his professional career at the team before joining Lampre-Merida in 2016. The rider finished tenth in the 2015 Vuelta a España and eighth in the 2016 Tour de France.
TJ Sport, which was to become the first Chinese WorldTour team after converting from Lampre-Merida, has until December 15 to provide the UCI with the necessary paperwork in order to continue its application process.
