Gorka Izagirre uncertain for remainder of Tour Down Under

Movistar's Gorka Izagirre suffered a crash in the last kilometers of the third stage of the Tour Down Under and doesn't know whether he will remain in the race.

With three kilometers to go, the Spaniard fell and suffered scratches and bruising to the left side of his back. He is still being evaluated and before the start of the fourth stage it will be decided whether he will continue in the Australian race.

"(Izagirre) could cross the finish line and didn't lose any time in the General Classification. He stayed in second position at 20 seconds from Richie Porte (BMC)," said Movistar Team in a press release. "After his arrival, he was taken to the Royal Hospital of Adelaide to treat the injuries and do some scans and x-rays.

"The tests don't show any fractures but the magnitude of his injuries and skin loss put in doubt his further participation in the race," it finished.
