Alexander Kristoff wins again in Tour of Oman

Alexander Kristoff of Katusha-Alpecin has secured his second stage win in the Tour of Oman. The peloton caught a breakaway just in time for a bunch sprint to occur.

At only 118 kilometers, the fourth stage from Yiti to the Ministry of Tourism was the shortest of the whole race and promised to be explosive right from the start.

A group of nine including Luxembourg's Bob Jungels escaped in the opening phase but was never given much space by the peloton which neutralized the situation well ahead of the finale.

This left enough space for others to try their luck. A group of 15 riders first escaped but was later reeled in, and late attempts by Jakob Fuglsang, Stefan Kung and Mathias Frank proved fruitless.

In the final sprint at the Ministry, Kristoff beat Italian Sonny Colbrelli (Bahrain-Merida) and BMC Racing Team's Greg van Avermaet to take his second victory in this race. The Norwegian had already won the opening stage on Tuesday.

Belgian Ben Hermans (BMC) remains in the overall lead with a five-second advantage over Rui Costa.
