ASO unveils wild cards for Fleche Wallonne and Liege-Bastogne-Liege

The ASO has announced the wild card teams for both the Fleche Wallonne and Liege-Bastogne-Lies. Six professional continental teams are invited to both races.

A total of seven teams have received invitations for each of the two races. French teams Cofidis and Direct Energie are among those taking part in both, as are Belgian formations Sport Vlaanderen-Baloise, Wanty Groupe-Gobert and WB Veranclassic Aqua Protect and Italian formation Aqua Blue sport.

The remaining invitee for the Fleche Wallone is French team Fortuneo-Vital Concept while Roompot-Nederlandse Loterij of the Netherlands is set to take part in the Liege-Bastogne-Liege. The Dutch formation will therefore be absent from the Fleche Wallone despite having taken part in the last two seasons.

The Fleche, with Alejandro Valverde as defending champion, will take place on April 19th. Liege-Bastogne-Liege is scheduled to take place four days later with Sky's Wout Poels hoping to defend his 2016 title.
