Adam Yates wins GP Industria & Artigianato for the second time

Adam Yates of Orica-Scott has won the 2017 edition of the GP Industria & Artigianato. The Briton was the strongest of the six riders of the front group and crossed the finish line before Richard Carapaz (Movistar) and Rigoberto Uran (Cannondale Drapac).

At the start of the 199.2 kilometer race a group of four riders was formed. Nils Politt (Katusha-Alpecin), Davide Orrico (Sangemini Mgkvis Olmo Vega), Adriano Brogi (GM Europe Ovini) and Angelo Raffaele (D'Amico-Utensilnord) reached a gap of more than 5 minutes with the main bunch, but were caught at 40 kilometers from the end.

Shortly after, a new group of six riders took the lead and got enough space to stay ahead until the end. Mattia Cattaneo and Egan Arley Bernal of Androni Giocattoli, Simon Clarke and Rigoberto Uran of Cannondale Drapac, Richard Carapaz and Adam Yates as such competed for the victory in the final sprint.

The Briton showed that he had the better legs in the last kilometers and crossed the line ahead of Carapaz and Uran, taking his second victory at the Tuscan race.
