Shortly after winning the 2017 edition of Milano-Sanremo, Team Sky's Michal Kwiatkowski said that the victory feels unbelievable.
Kwiatkowski sprinted to victory and got the second Monument victory for his team and his second win of the season.
Following a surprising move of Peter Sagan (Bora-hansgrohe), who attacked on the last climb of the race, Kwiatkowski became part of the trio that went in front until the end of 'La Primavera', as it is nicknamed.
The rider was very happy after crossing the finish line just centimeters ahead of Sagan. "Winning Milan-San Remo is an incredible feeling. I'm really thankful for my team-mates.
"They did an incredible job today. I didn't expect Sagan would go on the Poggio. It looked like it was leading to a bunch sprint," he commented.
The rider, who completed the third winning weekend in a row for Sky after his own victory at Strade-Bianche and Sergio Henao's win at Paris-Nice, needed a moment to recover from his emotions. "I felt pretty strong and it was amazing to be there with Sagan and Alaphilippe.
"I tried to focus to do my best sprint. It's unbelievable," Kwiatkowski added.
Team Sky won its first Monument race in 2016, when Wout Poels got the victory at Liege-Bastogne-Liege.
