Ilnur Zakarin abandons Volta a Catalunya

SUBSCRIBE TO RSS FEEDSIlnur Zakarin has left the Volta a Catalunya at the end of the fourth stage. The Katusha-Alpecin rider suffered an injury to his rib during a fall.
The Russian rider was part of a crash on the fourth day of the Spanish WorldTour race. He was treated at the spot and decided to continue and finish the stage despite visibly being in pain.
At the end of the stage, which was won by Frenchman Nacer Bouhanni, Zakarin arrived in 57th position and ended up in the 21st place in the general classification of the race.
