Bob Jungels takes 15th stage of Giro d'Italia

Quick-Step Floors' Bob Jungels has taken the victory at the 15th stage of the Giro d'Italia. The rider crossed the finish line ahead of Nairo Quintana and Thibaut Pinot.

The stage was 199 kilometers long between Valdengo and Bergamo with two climbs, one of the second category and another one of the third.

The escapees' group of the stage was conformed by Enrico Barbin (Bardiani-CSF), Rudy Molard (FDJ), Jacques Janse Van Rensburg (Dimension-Data), Philip Deignan (Team Sky) and Julen Amezqueta (Wilier-Selle). They got a gap of more than 1 minute over the bunch.

At the 162nd kilometer Nairo Quintana (Movistar) fell during a descent but the main group, including leader Tom Dumoulin (Team Sunweb), waited for him and he soon returned to the bunch.

Along the way to the second climb, riders of the front group were caught by the peloton. The last kilometers saw attacks by Pierre Rolland (Cannondale-Drapac), Bob Jungels (Quick-Step Floors), Domenico Pozzovivo (AG2R-La Mondiale) and Vincenzo Nibali (Bahrein-Merida).

The finale ended in a bunch sprint of the favorites and Jungels showed to be the strongest rider at the finish getting the victory ahead of Quintana, Pinot, Adam Yates (Orica-Scott) and Pozzovivo.

Quintana got six bonification seconds for his second place and he is now at 2'41'' from Tom Dumoulin in the General Classification.
