Slovenia: Sam Bennett and Rafal Majka celebrate on perfect day for Bora-hansgrohe

Bora-Hansgrohe rider Sam Bennett has won the last stage of the Tour of Slovenia. Teammate Rafal Majka secured the victory in the overall classification.

The 160km long stage from Rogaska Slatina to Novo Mesto offered another opportunity for the sprinters to shine in the Slovenian race. The peloton allowed a group of six to spend some time in the lead but ended up restoring the balance at 12 kilometers from the finish.

Orica-Scott set a high pace in the finale, hoping to help home rider Luka Mezgec clinch his second stage victory in this race. Instead of was Bennett to get his second win after excellent preparing work by Rudiger Selig.

Mark Cavendish of Dimension Data had to settle for second place ahead of Sonny Colbrelli of Bahrain-Merida.

In the overall classification, Majka had no difficulties defending his advantage over his nearest rivals and as such secured the final victory. Giovanni Visconti of Bahrain-Merida and Orica-Scott's Jack Haig complete the top three.

Majka is the second Polish rider to win the Tour of Slovenia, after Przemyslaw Niemiec' victory in 2005.
