Yves Lampaert of QuickStep Floors has won the Belgian Time Trial Championship. Victor Campenaerts and Ben Herman finished second and third, respectively.
The race took place on a 37.8km course in the town of Chimay - which is also well known for its beers - in the Walloon part of the country.
Dries Devenyns (QuickStep) started earlier on the day and set the best time at the moment of his arrival. He was later bumped off the hot-seat by Ben Hermans of BMC Racing Team.
Lampaert was another 31 seconds faster than Hermans however and with only defending champions Campenaerts still in a position to threaten the top time, it soon became clear that it was going to be a close call.
In the end, LottoNL-Jumbo's Campenaerts needed 17 seconds more to complete the course than Lampaert and as such had to settle for Silver in this year's edition of the championship. Hermans finished third ahead of Thomas De Gendt (Lotto Soudal) and Devenyns.
Wout van Aert, of whom much was expected in this time trial, set convincing times at the intermediate points but the Vérandas Willems–Crelan eventually finished in sixth place.
