Edvald Boasson Hagen has won the Norwegian Time Trial Championship for an impressive ninth time. The Dimension Data rider experienced no serious opposition in this year's edition.
Boasson Hagen had already taken a clear lead over his opponents after just a few kilometers on the road in the city of Trondheim. At the finish, none of the other competitors had managed to limit the damage to less than one minute.
To complete the 43km route, Boasson Hagen needed 1'07" less than Silver medalist Andreas Vangstad of Sparebanken Sor. Joker rider Kristoffer Skjerping finished third to take the Bronze.
By winning his ninth national TT title, Boasson Hagen now has two more than previous record holder Aage Myhrvold who won seven titles between 1939 and 1953. However, Myhrvold did not get a chance to add more titles during the Second World War.
Boasson Hagen won his first national title in 2007 and has since only failed to dominate the race in 2012 (Silver) and 2014.
On the weekend, the 30-year-old will also get a chance to defend his title in the Road Race.
