AQUA BLUE SPORT

Larry Warbasse of Aqua Blue Sport has won the USA National Championship after beating Neilson Powless and Alexey Vermeulen in a sprint of three.

The road race took place in the city of Knoxville, Tennessee. The men's route was 181 kilometers (112.4 miles) long, divided into 25 laps on local circuit.

The peloton slowly but surely decreased in size as the race went on and going into the final lap, a group of three with Larry Warbasse of Aqua Blue Sport, Alexey Vermeulen of LottoNL-Jumbo and Neilson Powless of Axeon Hagen Berman had an advantage of over 30 seconds.

The three continued to add to their lead as they cooperated well until they knew they had the luxury to start looking at each other rather than their chasers.

A few minor attacks were attempted in the last kilometer but it all came down to a final sprint in which Warbasse proved to have the most energy left and took the victory ahead of Powless. Vermeulen, who had looked the most tired in the finale, took Bronze.
