Tour de France General Classification candidate Richie Porte of BMC Racing Team is highly motivated for what is to come after a stressful final few kilometers in stage 4.
Porte was held up by the first of two crashes leading up to the finish in Vittel but will not lose any time thanks to UCI's three-kilometer rule.
"It wasn't so hard but it was pretty stressful there in the final especially with a couple of big crashes," Porte said right after arriving to the finish. "Thank God for the three-kilometer rule because that saved our skin a little bit there."
Wednesday's fifth stage will be the first showdown for those competing for the General Classification.
"I am super motivated for tomorrow," said the Australian. "I think all the guys in the team are motivated for tomorrow as well. I think we just have to see how the race goes but I expect it to be absolutely full gas. It will be the first big test of the Tour 2017."
