Dylan Groenewegen about crash: I got lucky

Dylan Groenewegen of LottoNL-Jumbo was involved in the first of two crashes in the last kilometer of Tuesday's Tour de France stage, but got away without serious injuries.

The crash took place in the peloton with about a kilometer to go and caught out several sprinters as well.

"We were riding next to QuickStep when someone fell. Then you can brake as much as you like but you will just crash into each other," the Dutchman said. I got lucky. I kind of jumped from my bike rather than actually crashing, so I landed on my feet and didn't really fall.

"Fortunately the injuries of my teammates aren't too bad either. There were a lot of crashes today. The Tour de France is known for that. But it was a missed opportunity, I would have liked to be there in the sprint.

In the end, Groenewegen finished the stage in 186th position.
