Tour de France stage 4 winner Arnaud Demare of FDJ says that raising your arms in celebration in the French race is an extraordinary feeling.

Demare was the first rider to cross the finish line in a sprint that will feed debates for years to come as result of the clash between Peter Sagan and Mark Cavendish. The Frenchman never actually noticed that crash and took the victory ahead of Alexander Kristoff.

"I knew that it was going to be hard in the final," said Demare. "There was a first crash with Jacopo Guarnieri at 600 meters from the line and I had to work hard to catch up. I went where I could and I did not see the other fall behind me. It is in any case extraordinary to raise your arms in this Tour!"

FDJ's General Manager Marc Madiot hailed the teamwork that led to this victory.

"I am happy for us, for the team, for FDJ and all those who contribute in one way or another," he said.

"The main objective was this stage victory. I feel that the task has been accomplished, and the Green Jersey is a pretty cherry on the cake."
