Miguel Angel Lopez victorious in Austria, Stefan Denifl leads

Miguel Angel Lopez of Astana has won the fourth stage of the Tour of Austria. Stefan Denifl of Aqua Blue sport is the new overall leader.

Stage 4 of the "Österreich-Rundfahrt" was only 82.7 kilometers long. The stage started in the city of Salzburg and finished at the top of the Kitzbuheler Horn, more than a kilometer higher.

A group of six riders including Elia Viviani escaped in the early kilometers but never gained an advantage of more than 1'30". The six were all caught on the final climb.

Katusha-Alpecin set a high pace for its leader Rein Taaramae but it was instead Astana's Lopez to launch a successful attack. The Colombian was initially followed by Mekseb Debesay but later dropped his companion to take a convincing stage win.

Home rider Stefan Denifl finished in second place and takes the lead in the overall classification. Italian Giolio Ciccono finished third.
