Richie Porte of BMC Racing Team believes that the second weekend of the Tour de France will offer a true shake-up in the General Classification standings.

Following a mostly flat week, with the exception of the fifth stage on Wednesday, the peloton returns to the mountains on the weekend. Most are looking at Sunday's stage, which is expected to be one of the heaviest in this year's Tour de France.

Looking ahead to the stages to come, Porte was happy to have completed Friday's stage without trouble.

"There was a bit of wind there and everybody wanted to be at the front. So it was an absolute nightmare all day. It's just nice to get that one done," he said.

"Tomorrow is a bit of an unknown to be honest, kind of a finish we don't normally do in the Tour. A 12k climb and then a bit of a plateau to the finish. I'm not sure what's gonna happen there but it should be interesting.

"This weekend is the first real big shake-up with climb after climb on Sunday. I think it's gonna be a hard weekend for everybody."

Porte is currently in fifth place in the overall standings. The Australian trails race leader Chris Froome by 39 seconds.
