Alberto Contador (Trek-Segafredo) is still sore because of the two crashes he suffered in the ninth stage of the Tour de France, and he wonders why Nairo Quintana (Movistar) caused the second one.

The Spaniard takes the first rest day to recover from the bruises and think about Sunday's stage. "I am doing everything I can to recover from the two crashes I had yesterday and that did not depend on me," said Contador. "In the first one, at La Biche, I had to pass on top of Rafal Majka, but fortunately nothing happened.

"The second one was harder, Nairo (Quintana) crashed against me. I don't know why he pushed me. It was quite a hard impact."

The rider stated that he is being treated for the pain, but he doesn't come with any excuses about his low performance in the stage. "I have pain all over my body and I've been treated with the radio frequency machine, using cold packs, I am doing everything to recover. But either way I was not going well at the last climb," he said

Contador plans to keep enjoying La Grande Boucle, now with new objectives. "After the last stage and with all the crashes, the possibilities for me in the General Classification have gone away completely. If I recover, I think the third week will be very entertaining.

"I am a very optimistic rider and I will try to do it the best I can. I will enjoy the Tour with a new approach."
