Movistar's Nairo Quintana has lost more time in the General Classification of the Tour de France but remains in eighth position at 4'01" from race leader Fabio Aru (Astana).

It was a difficult day for the Colombian and on the ascent to the Port de Bales he felt that he couldn't keep going at a good pace. "We have fought until we could, but the strength isn't really there the way I'd like," he said at the end of the stage.

"When I dropped, I thought that I was going to lose a lot of time. But in the end I had endured it the best way I could and it wasn't that much time."

Being more than four minutes away from the first position, Quintana reflects on new goals and what happened in the season, which started with the objective of fighting for the victory at the Giro d'Italia and the Tour de France.

"I don't know what my new objective is, maybe to try to get a stage victory but what I really want is to get some strength back. As long as I don't have that, we can't make any new plans. Right now I don't have any condition, but the Tour is long and you never know what can happen.

"Like I've said on other days, this is the first time that we have tried to get the double and it is clear that it didn't turn out well. In betting sometimes you win and sometimes you lose and this time we didn't win. But next year we will do it better, basically preparing the Tour like other times, and we will come in better conditions."
