Jakob Fuglsang still determined to continue in Tour de France despite 27-minute loss

Danish rider Jakob Fuglsang is still determined to continue in the Tour de France despite suffering throughout Thursday's stage as a result of his crash a day earlier.

The Astana rider had to let go of the peloton much early on the day and eventually finished the stage at 27 minutes from stage winner Romain Bardet. This result meant a drop from fifth to 23rd place in the overall standings for the Scandinavian.

"I am completely out of energy," Fuglsang told Danish broadcaster TV2. "In the first part of the stage I tried to follow the others, but later it was just too hard for me. My injury, and its consequences, made me unable to fight for the classification.

"It was a very hard day for me. But I'm doing to start again tomorrow. We'll see how it goes," he concluded.

While Fuglsang struggled his way to the finish, his teammate Fabio Aru finished in third place and took the Yellow Jersey from Team Sky's Chris Froome.
