Alberto Contador of Trek-Segafredo is determined to enjoy himself in the remainder of the Tour de France, rather than focusing on the General Classification.

The rider delivered an impressive performance in the 13th stage on Friday, finishing third after spending a large part of the stage in the lead with compatriot Mikel Landa of Team Sky.

"My objective now is to enjoy myself. This Tour is putting me to the limit in many ways. Physically because even though I feel well, my injuries don't allow me to rest, but also psychologically," the Spaniard told press agency EFE.

The veteran went on to say that he is no longer fighting for the General Classification but instead aims to "provide spectacle so people at home will enjoy it more".

"For Sky it was the perfect race situation because Landa could have become the new leader. I don't know what happened behind us. I helped Mikel as much as I could," he continued.

Contador is planning to do more in the remainder of this Tour de France. "There is a nice week ahead of us. I have to focus on my recovery and reach the Alps in good shape."
