Mikel Landa (Team Sky) has had a good day at the Tour de France, being part of the front duo for most of the stage and climbing to the fifth position in the General Classification.

Even though there has been a lot of talk about the loyalty of the Spaniard to his team's leader, Chris Froome, he claims that everything he has done is for the sake of Sky. "I didn't try to win the stage, I was there for the team," said the rider to Spanish news agency EFE at the end of the day.

"The objective is to try to win the Tour de France, I don't think I'm stronger than Chris Froome. He has won the Tour three times."

Landa escaped from the peloton during the second ascent of the day along with Alberto Contador (Trek-Segafredo). "I think it was a good idea to follow the wheel of Contador. When he attacked I followed him because he is a great rider in stages like the one of today, short and explosive. So we went together and worked well," he commented.

The Spaniard also confesses that the thought of getting the Yellow Jersey was in his head during the day. "I thought about it, but I always knew it was going to be very difficult."
