Alberto Contador (Trek-Segafredo) has survived another stage of the Tour de France and keeps recovering from the injuries caused by the crashes.

At the end of the 14th stage, the rider saw that the group was stressed and tried to stay as safe as possible. "I was a little behind and surely there was a cut in the group. Evidently you never lose time just to lose it, but there was a lot of stress," said the rider to the Spanish radio station COPE. "We were behind and I was surprised to see Aru there."

But the rider wasn't worried about being back in the group at the end, because his priority of the day was just to arrive safely. "These days for me are just to get through them without problems and all I want is to be completely recovered for next week."

Sunday will feature the last mountain stage before the second rest day, but for Contador it is not an important one. "If I tell you the truth I don't even know the route, I haven't even looked at the road book for tomorrow. I know the Alpine stages, but not this one. For me it is important right now to recover," he commented.

After days of crashes and suffering, the Spaniard is in the 10th position of the General Classification at five minutes and 37 seconds from the race leader Chris Froome (Team Sky).
