Angel Vicioso unhurt after training accident

Spanish cyclist Angel Vicioso of Katusha-Alpecin and triathlete Jesus Gomar Garcia were hit by a car while training in the region of Valencia. Gomar reportedly took the bigger hit.

The accident took place on a roundabout in the town of Xeraco, which has in the past been the site of several fatal accidents.

"A man hit us on a roundabout," Vicioso wrote on Twitter. "Jesus Gomar was the most affected." Later, he thanked fans for showing interest and added that he was very lucky.

Replying to the rider's tweet, Katusha-Alpecin wrote that it was "Happy to hear from @angel_vicioso that he is doing well".

The 40-year-old from Aragon joined Katusha in 2012. His biggest win was the 3rd stage of the 2011 Giro d'Italia which was unfortunately overshadowed by the death of Belgian rider Wouter Weylandt.
