Trek-Segafredo's Alberto Contador has arrived to the finish line with the group of favourites at the 15th stage of the Tour de France.

The Spaniard climbed one position in the General Classification and is at five minutes and 37 seconds from Chris Froome (Team Sky). "The legs respond better every time. I'm recovering properly, I wake up better in the mornings and I'm hopeful about the rest of the Tour," he said to the Spanish news agency EFE at the end of the stage.

Teammate Bauke Mollema got the stage victory and it is an occasion for celebration in the team. "Today has been a good day for us and I'm very happy about the victory of Mollema. He could get in the breakaway and finished it off. It is great news before the rest day," Contador commented.

Even though the rider is having better days after recovering from the injuries caused by crashes, he knows that it is difficult to climb in the general classification. "Everything can happen, but the differences are big. I did everything I could to avoid losing time. The first spots of the overall standings are far away, but I've seen riders that are tired. And there are still stages that can break them," he affirmed.

But for Contador one of the riders that hasn't shown much weakness is the leader of the General Classification. "I see Froome alright, today he closed the gap when he was left behind. That means he still has gas."
