The 17th stage of the Tour de France was another difficult day for Nairo Quintana (Movistar) who had more difficult times on the climbs.

The Colombian managed to stay in the peloton until the last ascent of the Galibier, where he was quickly dropped. "It was a day of suffering," said the rider at the end of the stage.

"It was a day of a lot of fighting and well, we will finish the Tour with tranquillity. I have suffered too much, but I could arrive to the end."

Quintana has had many difficult days in this Tour and the race is proving too long for his current shape. "The reality is that I don't have good legs. But we will continue racing and finish it off."

There is still one day left of climbing in the Alps and Quintana is not looking forward to it. "It will be a new stage of suffering, but I hope to feel a little better than today.

The Colombian is now in the 12th position of the General Classification, at 12 minutes and 54 seconds from race leader Chris Froome. When asked if he would consider withdrawing now, he had a clear answer: "I will not give up. I will arrive to Paris."
