Mikel Landa (Team Sky) finished the 17th stage in the fifth position of the General Classification. Although his condition was not optimal, he is ready for the next stage.

The rider is at one minute and 17 seconds from his teammate and race leader Chris Froome, and he pulled as much as he could, finishing the stage with the group of favourites, "It was a day on which I didn't have the best feelings," said the rider to Spanish radio COPE.

"The rhythm was really hard, but I managed to hold on there. Today I didn't have the same legs as other days, but I finished satisfied."

With one stage to go in the Alps, the rider managed to help his team leader to stay in the first position of the overall standings. "Chris is really strong and I think tomorrow he will show why he's the leader," he commented.

During the stage, Romain Bardet (AG2R La Mondiale) and Rigoberto Uran (Cannondale-Drapac) were very strong and for the Spaniard they are the ones to keep an eye on during the 18th stage. "Uran is a big rival and Bardet is too. They are the ones that will give us a fight tomorrow."

Landa is not too far from the podium, but insists that what is important is to work for the team. "I would like to see Froome on the highest step of the podium and I think it is very possible. And then we can see if I can get on there. But the other two riders are very strong.

"Tomorrow could be a good day for Chris and for me, because it is an uphill final, and we can both give everything there. But we will have to see how the day goes."
