The two winners of the 2017 Grand Tours so far were the stars at the criteria of Surhuisterveen and Roeselare.

2017 Giro d'Italia winner Tom Dumoulin (Sunweb) took the victory in Surhuisterveen, where he was the fastest at the final sprint. The rider showed to have better legs than Bauke Mollema (Trek-Segafredo) and Primoz Roglic (LottoNL-Jumbo). The sprint of the peloton was won by Dylan Groenewegen (LottoNL-Jumbo), winner of the last stage of the Tour de France.

Dumoulin succeeds Chris Froome (Sky) as the champion of this criterium.

Meanwhile, the current champion of the Tour de France started at the Criterium of Roeselare. The movement in the race started at 13 laps from the finish, when brothers Jelle (Lotto-Soudal) and Jens Wallays (Topsport Vlaanderen-Baloise) escaped.

The duo was later caught by Froome, Oliver Naesen (AG2R La Mondiale), Yves Lampaert (Quick-Step Floors), Guillaume Van Keirsbulck (Wanty-Groupe Gobert) and Tiesj Benoot (Lotto-Soudal). At a few kilometres from the end, Froome, Naesen and Jelle Wallays escaped and at the last metres the Tour de France champion took an advantage that was enough for his victory.
