Pavel Kochetkov and Maxim Belkov renew with Katusha-Alpecin

Katusha-Alpecin has extended the contracts of two more riders. Pavel Kochetkov and Maxim Belkov will both remain at the squad.

The 31-year-old Kochetkov is adding two more years to his contract, which will now be valid until the end of 2019. The rider is currently in his sixth season at the team and is a strong support for the formation. "Pavel has been a bit unhappy this season with injuries from crashes," said general manager Jose Azevedo.

"Despite this, he is an important rider in the teams built for Ilnur Zakarin and he will be particularly important in a future Grand Tour."

The rider has won the National Championships of Russia, as well as stages in the Tour des Pays de Savoie and the Tour of Bulgaria in 2011. In addition, he has worn the blue mountains jersey ay the 2015 Giro d'Italia and took the green sprint jersey at the 2012 Czech Cycling Tour.

Belkov is also in his sixth season at the team and has prolonged his contract for another year. The rider has won one stage at the 2013 Giro d'Italia and finished second in the Russian Time Trial championships of this year.

"Maxim is an important building block for us because of his vast experience, but also his class as a rider. This year he displayed this again at the Giro, where he was an important supporter for his captain Zakarin," Azevedo commented.
