It has been a great season for Michal Kwiatkowski. After winning Milan-San Remo, the Strade Bianche and forming a key part in Chris Froome's fourth victory in the Tour de France, he now took the victory in the Clasica San Sebastian.
The Polish rider was part of the last attack of the day, along with Mikel Landa who played an important part in his victory. "It's a great day. Winning this race this way was a dream for me," said the rider. "I'm very grateful to my teammates. Landa played a crucial role and I want to thank him for waiting in the final."
Kwiatkowski also acknowledged the importance of the dominance of Sky at the peloton, setting the pace during most of the race. "We took the responsibility from the beginning. We believed from the start that we could win and it's a pleasure to come here because it's a beautiful city with amazing fans," he commented.
"I didn't know how I’d feel after the Tour de France. I took some rest last week so I could prepare myself for this race."
