Spanish talent Jaime Roson joins Movistar Team

Spanish WorldTour formation Movistar Team has announced the signing of 24-year-old Jaime Roson, who is set to make the move from Caja Rural-Seguros RGA.

The team described the young Spaniard as "one of the big promises of national cycling" and announced that it had signed the rider for the coming two seasons.

Roson's career followed a rather unusual script. Born in Madrid, the rider turned professional at Team Ecuador in 2015. While riding for the South American formation, he gained attention in his home country by winning that year's Spanish U-23 Road Championships.

This was enough for Roson to be handed a spot as stagiaire at Caja Rural, where he got a professional contract at the start of 2016.

The current year has been particularly positive for the talented climber, having won the Mountains classification and finishing second in the overall classification of the Tour of Croatia, as well as coming in second at the Vuelta a Castilla y Leon and third at the Settimana Internazionale Coppi e Bartali.
