Matteo Montaguti (AG2R La Mondiale) has fractured his left hand during the sixth stage of the Tour of Poland. The rider will have to stay away from racing for the upcoming weeks.

The Italian rider has been having a difficult season, particularly after the Giro d'Italia where he had set some goals that he couldn't accomplish.

Montaguti will have to undergo further examination in Italy as the possibility exists of him having a fracture in his right wrist as well.

The rider formed part of the pre-selection of AG2R La Mondiale for the upcoming Vuelta a España, but now his participation is in doubt. One of the main reasons for him to be in the Tour de Pologne was to test his condition ahead of the Spanish Grand Tour.
