Spaniard Rafael Valls will miss the upcoming Vuelta a España after breaking a hip. Adam Hansen will be his replacement, Lotto-Soudal announced.
The Belgian WorldTour team issued a press statement saying that Valls broke his hip in training and will be out of competition for the rest of the season.
After Jurgen Roelandts and Frederik Frison, Valls is the third Lotto-Soudal rider to be ruled out of the season's remainder.
Australian Adam Hansen is set to replace his teammmate at the Vuelta, meaning a record 19th consecutive appearance in a grand tour.
Hansen was initially not selected for the Spanish race and thought that his record run had come to an end, but the latest development means a continuation of the Australian's habit to appear in all grand tours.
