Cofidis sprinter Nacer Bouhanni has won the second stage of the Tour de l'Ain by beating Samuel Dumoulin and Maxime Daniel in the final sprint.
The third day of the French 2.1 race featured a 145km stage from Amberieu-en-Bugey to Saint-Vulbas.
A group of three with Ryan Anderson of Direct Energie, Robert Kessler of the German selection and Jeremy Lecroq of Roubaix-Lille Metropole escaped in the opening phase and built a lead of two minutes. All three involved teams were also present in Wednesday's breakaway, albeit with different riders.
The trio was caught in the final kilometers, despite a late attempt of Anderson to stay ahead. Moments later, Bouhanni sprinted to victory after having finished second in the previous stage.
As a result, the Frenchman also takes the overall lead at the expense of Juan Jose Lobato. The LottoNL-Jumbo rider finished in fifth place and missed out on bonification seconds.
