Italian Matteo Trentin took his second stage win at the current Vuelta a España and learned more about his capabilities as a rider.

The Quick-Step rider beat Jose Joaquin Rojas of Movistar in a sprint of two, handing his team its fourth victory at this race.

"I really wanted it and for a while I was thinking about this stage because the climb was hard but it was also with a steady gradient and I know now that I can really handle that pretty well."

In order to win this stage, Trentin first had to survive a slippery and curvy downhill stretch to the finish.

"I knew the descent was super technical and it was actually good for me to have Rojas in the front group because he was really good going down, I just followed him and to be honest when he was really pushing I was in a bit of trouble following him, even though I'm a good descender. We could distance all the other guys downhill and it was down to a two men sprint.

"I was aware of everything from the radio, actually I pulled the whole climb at my tempo and when he passed me I was sure he wanted to go full gas down."

The rider understands that there is a little pressure on the team after having earned five stage wins at both the Giro d'Italia and the Tour de France, and today's win being the fourth in the current Vuelta. "Now we have to do five, at least!"
