Canadian cyclist Hugo Houle will leave AG2R La Mondiale to join Astana Pro Team at the start of next season.
The Kazakh formation announced their new signing in a press statement issued on Friday afternoon.
The 26-year-old turned professional at SpiderTech-C10 in 2011 and joined his current team two years later. Houle is a skilled time trialist, having won both the Canadian Time Trial Championships and the Time Trial of the Pan American Games in 2015.
"My move to Astana Team is a new, very serious challenge for me," the rider said. "This is a chance to take a new step in my development. Astana is a Kazakh project, but, at the same time it is a big international team. After five years in almost all-French team, I am curious to become a part of an international squad.
"Astana is known for its great ambitions in the Grand tours and I will be happy to help the team both in the big races and the classics, which I like so much."
Houle, who is currently riding the Vuelta a España for AG2R La Mondiale, has signed a contract for two years.
