Dylan van Baarle will not take part in the World Championships road race with the selection of The Netherlands.

The rider has not completely recovered after a rib injury he sustained during the Tour of Britain. "The route in Bergen demands a lot of effort and acceleration," said Dutch coach Thorwald Veneberg. "Dylan is not convinced that he can be 100 percent fit for the race."

Team Sky's Danny van Poppel will be replacing the rider in the Dutch selection and his presence will be important if the race leads to a sprint finish. "Looking at the selection of other countries like Italy, there is a chance that some of them will force the race to a final sprint or a finish of a larger group," the coach explained.

"That's why I added one of our fastest riders to the selection. He can handle a difficult parcours well."

Van Poppel will join Tom Dumoulin, Niki Terpstra, Jos van Emden, Sebastian Langeveld, Bauke Mollema, Lars Boom, Wout Poels and Koen de Kort in the road race.
