Team Sunweb has been crowned as the new women's time trial world champion at the World Championships of Bergen, Norway. The team completed the circuit twelve seconds faster than runner-up Boels-Dolmans.

The circuit was 42.5 kilometres long and nine teams started in the competition, which made it a relatively short event. The favourite teams to take the title were Cervelo-Bigla, Sunweb, Canyon SRAM, Sunweb and Boels-Doelmans, last year's champion.

At the first intermediate point, Cervelo set the best time which led to the thought that they were spending too much energy in the first part. These suspicions were confirmed when the team was considerably slower at the second checkpoint and by the fact that it finished the event with just four riders.

Boels-Dolmans took the lead at the second intermediate point but what looked like a new title for the Dutch team was interrupted by Sunweb, which set the same time at the second point and completed the circuit 12 seconds faster than the defending champions.

Coryn Rivera, Leah Kirchmann, Ellen van Dijk, Luncinda Brand, Floortje Macjaij and Sabrina Stultiens got to be on the podium to receive the first Gold medal for the team. Cervelo finished in third place.
