BAHRAIN - MERIDA

Bahrain-Merida is already thinking about the 2018 season by starting to plan for the races the team will face.

Vincenzo Nibali finished on two Grand Tour podiums in 2017 and the team wants to set higher goals for the next season, paying special attention to the Giro d'Italia.

The WorldTour team will take part in some of the most important races in the world, focusing on the Grand Tours and having the Giro d'Italia in a special place due to Nibali and his chances in the Italian race.

"It’s always an exciting time of the year when we start finding out the race routes and calendars of the following season," said General Manager Brent Copeland. "The Giro d’Italia were the first to announce the start of their Grand Tour this week.

"Together with the technical staff we will wait for the rest of the race route to be announced as well as the route of the other Grand Tours before we put together the most competitive team for all three grand tours. Of course the Giro is always an exciting race for us and, as always, we look forward to participating."
